Itself is 3 days long from Aremd village in the High Atlas Mountains. Aremd is the closest village to Mount Toubkal and it is here where you will be based for this challenging trek to the summit of Morocco 's highest mountain. In the village, which is about 2 hours drive from Marrakech, then a 40 minute walk, you will stay at a local guest house. Facilities are very basic, but the welcome is genuine and friendly .
You will be accompanied on the trek by a Moroccan mountain guide, with a mule to carry your gear and a muleteer to handle the mule. You will be camping during the trek, and your guide will provide good meals for you round the campfire.
Most people find that they are aware of the altitude as it is a fairly rapid ascent trekking from Aremd (at about 2100m) to the summit at 4167m, so this is not a trek to be taken at a great pace but slowly with plenty of rests. Happily for most, it is not a technical climb (no ropes or crampons etc are needed) and the majority of people who tackle the mountain do manage to reach the summit, high in the Atlas Mountains .
