A trek that leaves the valleys and follows the ridges of the high atlas mountains,
Our first day is spent in Marrakech exploring and adjusting to the different culture before heading up to the roadhead at Imlil in the mountains. We walk from here up to Aremd, our base in the mountains, and spend the night acclimatising to the change in altitude.
The next few days are spent following the ridges that divide the Mizane and Imenane valleys and the Oukaimeden plateau. We aim to ascend Aourirt n'Ouassif, Jbel Oukaimeden, Goulzizt and Jbel Angour by their ridges . The standard of scrambling varies between the peaks but is within the ability of most competent scramblers.
We return to Aremd for two nights prior to trekking into the high mountains. The Lepiney refuge is our initial base, ready for an ascent onto the Tazarhart plateau, a barren tabletop, just short of 4000m. We then cross through the mountains via the high Tizi n'Tadat pass to reach the Neltner Hut, our base for the following day's ascent of Mount Toubkal (4167m), the highest point in North Africa .
